Building information modelling (BIM)

BIM is the process of Building Information Modelling and is the action or the creation and maintenance of a database of information relating to a building. This data is digital and is recorded in such a way as to serve as a useful tool for the future life of the building.

For example, recording details of the structure and specifications of windows would make the task of replacing windows quicker and easier.

Surveyors will be able to advise you in setting up a BIM as well as helping to interpret the data to inform maintenance decisions, potentially saving time and money over the full lifecycle of a building.
