About Us
Northen is a chartered surveying practice, specialists in Measurement and Quantification of construction projects. As experts in the production of detailed Bills of Quantities we can also act as an Expert Witness for quantification, measurement, and valuation of construction work. Measurement works are carried out following SMM7, NRM suite, CESMM4.
Alan Northen is the lead author of the updates to the New Rules of Measurement 2 (NRM2) for the 2nd Edition published in 2021. Training in NRM2 and measurement is available on request.
Following participation on the working group for the RICS Whole Lifecycle Carbon Assessment (WLCA ) Standard 2nd Edition. Alan is lead Author and Tutor of the 2024 RICS training course for the WLCA Standard.
Northen can deliver a whole lifecycle carbon assessment for a building. Including newbuild and refurbishment projects, in addition to preparing baseline carbon data models for existing buildings.Over the past 15 years we have carried out over 1300 projects for Major Contractors, Sub-Contractors or Clients within these sectors:
